Logo OPThunderbird

Here is a first shot for a logo OPThunderbird. It is nothing more. Just a first sketch. The logo could be finished within 24 hours as of the publication of this post if needed. If you wish me to continue, contact me via my Twitter handle: @M4riechaon One condition applies if it is wished for, that I finish it: it will be licensed under a cc license (derivatives allowed, no mentioning necessary, but no commercial purposes allowed)

Variation (Feet have to be clearly changed in both versions. Finishing degree about 80%). Several Variations for different uses possible (use as small logo, with olive branch, without olive branch, without head but with questionmark, with letters OPTB over the head of bird…)

This is how a negative variation might look like (the blind variation like Justizia is blindfolded). I'm not yet happy with the graphic quality of the overall thing. Defenitely needs some more work.:

Some more remarks. I wanted the logo

1) to be Anonymous conform
2) appealing really to the groups targeted by #OPThunderbird which means
3) it should have an indigenous feel. But not one that prefers an Inka feel over an northamerican feel over an aboriginal feel. It should be acceptable for all indigenous people that are a little open and forthcoming.
4. It should work in a big and very small form
5. It may be fierce but should not make people really scared like my mother who can't really grasp what all the Anonymous videos are all about. She let's herself be influenced much by visual stuff and is scared by a few of Anonymous' visuals incapable of seeing behind the mask, grasping the real value of Anonymous.

Change or Chaos?

I very consciously decided to publish the following video by Anonymous on my blog here. That this is not the most visited or the best maintained blog doesn't matter. The intellectuals of this planet have been silent for too long. What happened to those great artists and intellectuals that have always spoken out for justice and common human sense?
While I have never done anything that was illegal in my country (and I will not engage in such a thing either if not absolutely necessary) the time to shut up is over. In the future I will indirectly or directly support all Anonymous operations that seem to be thoughtful and truthful out of my very personal perspective. One of my weapons will be the pen. But I intend to sharpen it to an extend, that a japanese katana looks like a dull, edgeless pocket knife. And I know I'm not the only one out there that – even if only in thought – supports quite a few operations by Anonymous.
Who am I. Well, all information about my personality lie in the open. A capable hacker might even be able to find all my passwords, my bank number accounts and much more. I don't care. I believe in some human, global justice. We are all born the same: naked. And we all go the same. Naked.
Why can I do this? Because I can. Because the time is ripe. Because if it should ever be necessary, I believe I could contact Anonymous. Because if it should ever be necessary Anonymous would have my back. That's why. Because we desperately need some role models in the open for everybody to see. Courage is contagous. I fear I was contaminated. By several people more courageous than I am. One of them is Julian Assange. Not that I say Julian is infallable. But the courage he has shown is extraordinary no doubt.
And the time is now. Let's start with this video. If you feel like you want to download it, download it. If you feel like publishing it, publish it. If you feel like spreading it, spread it. Silence - in my culture - is interpreted as approving. And even if I have only very limited, small steps to offer; and even if I belong to the most vulnerable individuals on this planet, the time to act is now. Come with me on a daring journey…

And last but not least what is more important than anything: enjoy every moment of your life.

Yours, R.

Gun Control?

«We have nothing to fear but fear itself.»
                                                     – Franklin D. Roosevelt

«We have nothing to fear but fear itself». What a true insight by Roosevelt. As I mentioned in an earlier blogpost [in german] often people lack focus on the real issues to a great extend. They'd rather have never ending discussions about fighting some symptoms instead of tackling the real problems at hand. The same thing happens time and time again with the topic «gun control». But actually it doesn't matter so much if there are guns around or not. While available guns admittedly make it easier to hurt somebody and maybe a strict gun control would lower the abuse of guns slightly this is not the central problem at all. It is the readyness to excert violence and the lack of empathy that is the true root of the problem, not the tool itself (whatever it may be in the end, guns, kitchen knifes, broomsticks, fists…).

While some may hesitate to believe this it can actually be shown with a very simple mind experiment. Check out this thought:

Wish to kill  +  (fire) arm  =  murder
Wish to kill  –  (fire) arm  =  murder
No wish to kill  +  (fire) arm  =  no murder
No wish to kill  –  (fire) arm  =  no murder

Can you see it now?

Taking it to the extreme this thought experiment is even true for people with suicidal tendencies. Except that if people who are (sadly) commited to carrying through with it and that have no effective tools at hand are more likely to involve third parties like, train conductors, parents, kids, forest rangers, teachers, class mates against those peoples will.

Or putting it the other way round: if you hand out fully automatic machine guns to truthful (that point is important!) buddhist monks there will be not one single murder whatsoever.

Of course you got the conclusion of that idea already: it is the will to kill that has to be approached on this planet. And this is done by teaching people empathy. Even though empathy has some connection to genetics it can still be learned. So what we have to do is teach empathy to each other and our children. This point is more important and clearly takes precedence over the question of gun control! Concentrating on empathy makes the topic of gun control suddenly seem to be secondary. I'm not saying gun control couldn't help. Maybe it could. Maybe it's a good start. But is it the solution for the root problem?

So how can we practically do something about teaching empathy? Firstly we can get conscious of our fears. Wanting to own guns for protection as well as wanting to control guns for protection has both immensely to do with fear. And fear in our hearts is a deadly poison. Let me repeat this: fear in our hearts is a deadly poison!

You know, maybe we should all watch the film «Bowling for Columbine» once again:

A V's Awakening V was fueled by rage, willing to die a martyr taking as many as possible with him. But Evie came out from all her loss and degradation and surrendered to her pain with grief instead hate. She saw hate turns all the self-righteous into monsters. That's when V saw it was time to die and take his hate with him, to hand the revolution over to those who still felt compassion…

Mainstream Media are dead Of course, the following statements have nothing to do with journalism. Least with ‹professional› or even ‹scientific› journalism…

The danger of censoring child pornography! Child pornography is not always bad…

Breaking secrets or leaking crimes? Let's start with the central point: the question is not «Did Julian Assange have contact or even initiate contact with Bradley Manning?», «Did Julian Assange convince or even push Bradley Manning to leak data?» or «Did Julian Assange provide infrastructure to Manning in order to leak data?», no, the central question is: «Did Bradley Manning expose any crimes?»…

A Time-Lapse Map of Every Nuclear Explosion Since 1945 - by Isao Hashimoto
Japanese artist Isao Hashimoto has created a beautiful, undeniably scary time-lapse map of the 2053 nuclear explosions which have taken place between 1945 and 1998, beginning with the Manhattan Project's "Trinity" test near Los Alamos and concluding with Pakistan's nuclear tests in May of 1998. This leaves out North Korea's two alleged nuclear tests in this past decade (the legitimacy of both of which is not 100% clear).

Fukushima - Wo bleibt das radioaktive Wasser?

09.07.2012/Kiel.

[hier weiterlesen]
